Exploring new markets in "Fruit Logistica Berlin 2018" Fair

Currently in Uzbekistan, many farmers, traders and trade facilitators are trying to open new market opportunities for Uzbek agriculture products in EU countries. To support these initiatives the EU-funded Project "Sustainable Development in Rural Areas of Uzbekistan" in the period from 7 to 10 February  organized a study visit to Germany for a number of fruit growers and processors from Project regions to participate in International Exhibition "Fruit Logistica Berlin 2018".  To join such a high level event is a great chance to explore new markets for Uzbek growers and exporters.

Candidates for this event were selected together with the local authorities from Ferghana, Namangan, Jizzakh and Syrdarya provinces and approved by the Ministry of Economy, as the main political partner.

Key objectives in trade fair participation were:

  • exploring new market opportunities;
  • familiarize with innovative agriculture technologies;
  • promoting Uzbek companies and agriculture products;
  • developing new business and establishing partnership.

Some of the participants were able to lay the foundation for a successful business year during the three days of FRUIT LOGISTICA. In addition, a number of meetings with European fruit producers and processors including potential buyers were organized.

Here some feedback from the participants:

"For us, 2018 has started as a very fruitful year that we have participated in FRUIT LOGISTICA. There are always many opportunities to meet customers and distributors. Not only that is good for business, but also ideal for presenting the advantages of our “Rio Fruits” brand to an international audience, and even found potential buyers from neighboring Kazakhstan for my products".

"I learned that FRUIT LOGISTICA is the right place for us to find new innovations. The people who come here are always looking for new products, I’m the example. I found a number of equipment quite interesting for my business, and already made commitment to purchase some of the equipment I’ve seen”.

"Firstly, this year has started with number of positive and life changing opportunities in our village. With EU Project initiative, we’ve established pomegranate growers’ Cooperative to product natural pomegranate juice that adds value to our pomegranates. Secondly, we have already met with our potential customers from Thailand and New Zealand. We used the trade show to come into contact with other growers, suppliers, processors and have the opportunity to find out more about trends, because we don’t have time to do that day-to-day".
