Preparing Fruit Orchards for New Season
From January 16 to February 9, 2017 in Fergana valley, Jizzakh, Kashkadarya and in Sirdarya regions, in close cooperation with regional partners, the EU funded “Sustainable Development in Rural Areas of Uzbekistan” Programme team organized training seminars on “Establishing new orchards, pruning fruit trees and pest/disease control during dormancy. Preparing fruit orchards for new season”.
The seminars gathered in total around 700 local small and medium farmers and horticulture specialists from the cities and districts of Fergana, Andijan, Namangan, Bakhmal, Zamin, Shakhrisabz, Kitob, Gulistan and Mirzabad.
According to the feedback from the local farmers-participants, the lectures, practical master classes and the selected topics were much relevant to the current horticulture practices in the regions, and recent/up-to-date EU know-how introduced during the sessions raised a huge interest. The seminars and practical lessons were conducted by Programme junior horticulture specialist Umidjon Sayfudinov.
